FSM Pubic Auditor Attends the 4 th Asia Pacific Audit & Governance Summit in Kuala Lumpur

On June 15, 2008 FSM Public Auditor Mr. Haser Hainrick and Senior Auditor Mike Henry arrived in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia to attend the 4 th Asia Pacific Audit & Governance Summit. The summit was intended for independent top-level directors and chief auditors from across the Asia Pacific Region.

The summit workshops were presented into two parts. Topics covered during the pre-summit work shop on the 16 th of June were “ How to Conduct a Fraud Investigation” and “Presentation Skills at Board Committees” presented by David Binns, Head of Corporate Investigations, RISQ Asia, Singapore and Ron Cartey, Group Chairman, AT Group, Malaysia, respectively.

The next day, the top-level summit workshops convened and covered the following topics: “ Breaking the Barriers in Corporate Governance & Audit Excellence”, “Risk, Audit, Control & Governance Role in Strategic Planning, “The Risks & Control Challenges of Overseas Expansion”, “Fraud Risk Management: A Different Perspective” and” Enterprises Risk Management- How We Did it & the Payback We are Getting”. The topics were presented by Keynote speaker H.E., Tan Sri Dato' Seita Ambrin bin Buang, Auditor General of Malaysia and other prominent speakers and panelists from major auditing and governance institutions across the Asia Pacific region.

Furthermore, topics presented at the last day of the summit included “Learning from the Sandals of 2007”, “The Great Debate: To Outsource Audit and Risk or Not?”, “Has Whistle Blowing Worked?”, Developing Meaningful Corporate Governance, Risk, Control and Internal Audit Statements for the Annual Report” and “Live Audit Committee Simulation: Improving the Audit Committee and Internal Audit Partnership” .

The three-day summit was hosted and organized by Columbus Circle Group. Participation of FSMOPA staff was made possible through the invitation and co-funding from the Columbus Circle Group, Chairman Mr. Navin Pasrich.
