New Audit Supervisor at the Main Office

The FSMOPA warmly welcomes newly hired Mr. Manuel L. San Jose, Jr., who prefers the short name “Manny,” as an Audit Supervisor at the Main Office in Palikir. Originally from Las Pinas City, Philippines, Manny recently joined the ONPA on May 7, 2007 . With his rich work experience, he admittedly looks forward to share the valuable skills he has acquired during his 27-year long working experience in specialized areas including Internal Auditing, Finance and Controllership and Information Technology (IT).

Manny started his career as an external auditor at the largest auditing firm Sycip Gorres & Velayo (SGV) in the Philippines . Although he initially occupied a position at the staff auditor level, he quickly worked his way up to the executive level within a two-year period. He also worked with different multinational companies such as Union Ajinomoto Inc., Pepsi Cola, Zurich Insurance, and AMA Computer University where he held various positions such as Staff Auditor, Senior Auditor, Computer Auditor, Audit Supervisor, Assistant Vice President for Information Technology, Senior Assistant Vice President for Audit, and finally Chief Financial Officer.

As one of two Audit Supervisors, Manny will be responsible for supervising and overseeing up to two different audits going simultaneously. Among others, he will be responsible for planning and establishing audit procedures, organizing, assigning and directing the respective work of the assigned team members that would normally include an auditor-in-charge plus a staff auditor in a team. He will ensure that audits are carried out efficiently and appropriately in accordance with existing auditing standards. He will play a key role in planning the audit and in ensuring that audit execution follows approved plans and expectation of the Management. Manny has a keen desire to do the best he can in an entirely different environment. Acknowledging Management's desire to build office capacity, Manny stated in an interview that “I'll do the best that I can do as long as my job and responsibilities are concerned and one of my objectives will be to share and transfer the skills I have learned to the people that I work with.”
