ONPA Hires Mermina Mongkeya as a New Auditor

The Office of the National Public recently hired Mermina Mongkeya to fill an auditor position which was vacant after the departure of Michael Henry. In a chain of e-mails, all the ONPA staff extended greetings and welcoming remarks to her as she started her first day of work on October 12, 2009.

Mermina hailed from the State of Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia. In May of 2000, she graduated from Park University in Parkville, Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Management. Prior to attending Park University, Mermina completed her high school studies at the Kosrae High School in August of 1996.

Mermina previously worked at the FSM Banking & Insurance Board located in Kolonia, Pohnpei as a financial analyst since April 6, 2009. However, before April of 2009, she was a staff auditor at the Office of the Kosrae State Public Auditor for about seven (7) years. In addition to her financial and auditing experience, she was an administrative assistant for the Gear Up Program at the College of Micronesia-FSM, Kosrae Campus for a short time after working as an instructor for the 21 st Century Program at Lelu Elementary School in Kosrae. She also held several jobs in Kansas City, Missouri while going to school, such as student assistant at different departments at Park University, waitress, and a customer service representative.

She is married with four kids, and she loves working at FSM OPA.
